An experienced operations manager and environmental professional with a BSc Honours degree in Chemistry, Ian joined the NISP West Midlands team in August 2007 as Regional Manager for the West Midlands.

Since completing his degree at the University of Sheffield, Ian has gained 17 years of experience within the Food and Drink sector. His career has seen him take up a number of diverse management roles in manufacturing operations, scientific services, project management and most recently the environmental arena.

His current responsibilities include leading the strategic and operational delivery of the National Industrial Symbiosis Programme (NISP) in England and acting as lead consultant in a British Petroleum sponsored industrial symbiosis project centred on the Iskenderun Bay area of Turkey. His other International project responsibility has included consultancy and training delivery in Egypt, China, Belgium, Finland, Romania, Spain and South Africa.

Ian has also led a number of successful construction related activities within International Synergies. This has included an Innovate UK funded project to identify alternative raw materials for the built environment and a commercial contract assisting Highways England to identify solutions to resource criticality issues in major schemes. Ian has also helped establish MIROG (Major Infrastructure Resource Opportunities Group) in the UK, which enables major infrastructure providers to identify opportunities to share materials across large scale construction projects.
